Under 11s League Cup Final

Saturday, 30th April 2005
Kick Off: 10:00am

Merstham 2 v 3 Bookham Colts
at Banstead Athletic, Merland Rise Ground

A disappointing result for the U11s as they tried hard to match the seniors win last night.
With Merstham 2-1 up at the interval Bookham Colts fought back bravely
to make it 3-2 and take the cup.
Congratulations to Bookham who gave us a great cup final.

A spokesman for the U11s stated;
'The U11s played with good heart and ended the season well,
winning their league title and cup runners up they must be doing something right
Well done'

West Surrey Youth League Premier Cup Final

Colliers Wood won 5 - 4 on penalties

Congratulations Colliers Wood

Hayes took the lead in the second minute of play and dominated much of the first half keeping them one up at the break. Colliers Wood came out in the second half looking the stronger and scored two  quick goals. Hayes kept their strength and determination and managed to produce a late equaliser to send the game into extra time. No more goals were forthcoming and the match was decided on a penalty
shoot-out. Both sides took great penalties but an early save by the Colliers Wood keeper, Wester Young, won them the game.

West Surrey Youth League Invitation Cup Final

Feltham 2 Sutton High 6

A very disciplined Sutton High took hold of the game from the off scoring two stunning goals within the first twenty minutes. They went from strength to strength adding another two goals before the break. Feltham, inspired by a half time team talk, scored two goals early in the second half. Sutton were only temporarily troubled by this and went on to secure victory with a further two goals. Another great result for Sutton High taking their second trophy of the season, after easily winning their league title. A side which have been in a class of their own this season should have no trouble settling in to the Premier League next August. We wish them all the best.

Combined Counties Premier Division 12/04/05

Merstham 0 AFC Guildford 1

Last night's defeat stretched Merstham's poor run to eight games without a win, of which six are defeats. Manager Mick Sullivan was notably frustrated at his team's lack of commitment and must feel let down by some of his senior players.  A dedicated manager, as Mr. Sullivan most definitely is, deserves better respect from his side as yet again his touchline decisions were ignored.
Hopefully something has been gained from the match in preparation for the same two sides meeting in the Challenge Cup Final at the end of the month.
It is without doubt that Merstham have the ability to bring the cup home to the Recreation Ground and no one would be more pleased than Chairman Ted Hickman, Manager Mick Sullivan and
Club Captain Chris Boulter.

In last night's game
Skipper Chris Boulter notched up his 50th appearance for the club this season.

We Are Looking For Companies as Award Sponsors

My name is Paul Elsey. I am involved with the U14s and the UIOs teams for Merstham Football Club. I am trying to get our trophies sponsored by local companies and wondered whether your company could consider supporting us. The cost would be £20, for this, we would advertise your company on Merstham FC website and in our clubhouse. Also, we would send your company a photo of the boy or girl who wins the trophy that your company has sponsored. Plus a picture of the winning players with their trophies and sponsor's name will be in the Surrey Mirror.

If you are interested in doing this,
please ring me on my mobile: 07971484137.

Our presentation night is 30th April, if you could let us know your decision
by the 20th April This would be much appreciated.

AFC Guildford 1 Ash United 1 (AET)
AFC Guildford won 5 - 4 on penalties

Dress Rehearsal?
Merstham meet AFC Guildford at home in the league on Tuesday 12th April

Tuesday Result
Westfield 2 Merstham 2

An improved performance by Merstham ended their poor run of four losses in a
game where they could have taken all three points. In the closing minutes of the game
Westfield were awarded a free kick when the Merstham keeper, Mark Torcaso, was deemed
to have handled the ball outside his area, the resulting kick soared into the net.

Congratulations to
Merstham Newton FC
Crawley & District Football League - Premier Division Champions

Merstham Newton were celebrating as Crawley and District League Premier
Division winners. The local club whose 1st team joined the Crawley
League looking forward to new challenges after winning the Redhill and
District League and Cups on many occasions were crowned Champions after
beating Horley Albion 7-0 on Saturday. Only their second season in the
League it is a great achievement to win the title with 2 games to spare.
The club have two other teams in the Redhill and District League in
Divisions One and Three respectively. The A team is full of youth, last
week 8 of the starting line up were teenagers.
The Club are celebrating this wonderful achievement at Reigate Manor on
Friday 29th April.

Well Done Walton Casuals

Despite the fact that Godalming & Guildford can potentially equal the Casuals' 102 point tally, scenes of celebrations greeted the final whistle after they recorded their 12th straight victory by beating Southall.
Mathematically they still need 1 point from their final 7 games, however their superior goal difference is enough to ensure the Championship will be going to Franklyn Road for the first time.

A Poor Weekend for the Senior Sides

Merstham 0 Feltham 2
Still effected by Thursday night's poor refereeing decisions Merstham were
easy prey for their visitors. This was their fourth consecutive defeat leaving them
with little hope of attaining a top half of the table position at the end of the season.

Reserves
Sandhurst 4 Merstham 3
After trailing 4-1 Merstham fought back and were very unlucky
to come away without any points.
This loss sees them drop to 3rd in the league leaving them
a difficult task to win the division.
